Secret Cave Office Chart [JULY 2017]

I’m not sure how it ended up this way, but this month’s is the most disparate offering I’ve curated yet. Still, there’s only one point in it that I think is uncomfortable and jarring. Be aware of the transition between Boards of Canada‘sย Satellite Anthem Icarusย and Modest Mouse‘sย Ocean Breathes Salty; it’s a particularly nasty one. Unfortunately, it was a bit too late to do anything about andย Ocean Breathes Saltyย is good enough to get past it. Kate Bush – Babooshka

Without a word of a lie, I once spent an entire year listening to nothing butย Babooshka by Kate Bush, and around three other songs. ย I think I can put it down to the fact that I was working on an album of my own throughout that year, and was left really quite sick of music in my free time as a result. ย It says something thatย Babooshka, which I discovered in that period (too late in my life i’m ashamed to say), was such a beautifully composed and powerful piece of passionate pop that it cut right though my musical apathy with ease.…   [continue reading]
