For this episode ofย SCP3, our third season of podcasts, we invited my dad back onto the show. In his previous appearances, he acted as a sage-like elder; keeping Benjamin and I grounded. He’s also, usually, inappropriately vulgar for someone of his age. Along with March and Katy, Dad will be joining us for several episodes of this season. This time, he shows some restraint. SCP3 #02 – Conspiracy

In our previous season of podcasts, the focus shifted almost entirely toward interviews. Except for SCP2‘s opening and finale episodes, the series featured nothing but conversations with some of our influences.ย This was in stark contrast to SCP1, which instead took the form of structuredย talks between our writers. This time, we wanted to strike a balance between the two approaches. As a result, interviews will drop intermittently throughout this third season. I’m Not Saying Ben Brandall Should Kill Himself

Errare humanum est; it is true we all make mistakes and, from time to time, such mistakes can lead to disastrous events. I am reminded of the architect, John Weeks, who built Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, in the 1960โ€™s. Upon completion, the building was considered so ugly by everyone, including the Queen, that John, wracked with guilt and shame, threw himself from the roof of the six floor maternity unit to his demise.

The above story is not true. It is, in fact, urban myth. John Weeks did, indeed, build the hospital and everyone did think it was ugly, but John did not carry out the legendary, almost poetically, suggested justice upon himself.…   [continue reading]
